Somebody posted a laundry list of fifty ATProto app ideas. Rather than admire it, we built them. Thirty are working tools on this page — click one and use it. The other twenty are write-ups of exactly what stopped us, because "we didn't build this and here is the real reason" is more useful than a screenshot of something that doesn't exist.

How to read this

Each card links to /c/<number>. Every one of those pages opens with the original pitch, unedited, followed by what we made of it. A built card is a tool that works right now. A partial card is also a working tool, but it does less than the pitch asked for, and it says so at the top in the author's own terms. An unmarked card is a write-up with no tool behind it.

Nothing here asks you to log in and nothing writes to your repo. The tools that touch the network do public reads only — a handle, a repo, a feed — and the ones that produce records hand you the JSON to write yourself. Where a concept needs a real server, it got one: concept 01 is an image endpoint, concept 22 is a redirect resolver that stores nothing, and concept 27 fetches and parses your RSS server-side.

The twenty write-ups are not filler. Roughly half are blocked on primitives that have not shipped yet — private spaces, mostly — and the rest are blocked on something more interesting: they need an institution, a population, or credentials that no unattended page should hold. Those are worth reading in order.
